DRAWING NEAR TO GOD
  WELCOME / ANNOUNCEMENTS
*GREETING AND PASSING OF THE PEACE
  CALL TO WORSHIP -
As we come to worship, let us leave at the door our old selves.
And open our eyes to see God and our neighbor in worship
As we come to worship, let us leave at the door
our feelings of exclusiveness.
And open our minds to God’s Word
      and his teaching of inclusion.
As we come to worship, let us leave outside
our misconstrued notion of generosity.
And open our hearts to love as our ultimate gift.
As we come to worship, let us open our eyes, our minds and our hearts to what can be instead of what is.
For all of our gifts and each opportunity
comes from his hand. Let us lift our voices in praise!
*MORNING PRAISE - Hymn #362             Morning Has Broken

CELEBRATING HIS LOVE AND PROVISION
  MORNING PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
How easy it is to forget, loving God, that we are all created in  your image. How quickly we judge people by what they wear or what they do rather than who they are. How easy it is to lift our voices in criticism rather than lift our hands in compassionate care. How fast we are to dodge reality rather than face what is - and make it better. Forgive us, O God. Grant us the wisdom to listen with love and the courage to speak out for those who have lost their voices to hopelessness and despair. We ask in the name of Jesus the Christ, who came to show us what a life of love looks like. Amen.

  CHILDREN'S PRAYER OF BLESSING
All-knowing God, preserve these children from the sins of selfishness and greed.  Lead them into holy and virtuous lives of love, humble service, and generosity to you, to the work of your Kingdom, and to others. Amen.
(Children are dismissed to their teachers for Sunday School.)

POSTLUDE   Moderato, poco andante, op. 86/7             Karl Hasse

           THANKS THANKS THANKS –
to everyone supporting and volunteering to help with the BBQ and dessert table this past Wednesday for the benefit of Kinderhook Cemetery. The desserts were generous and fantastic, and over $350 in donations were received from them alone.  In addition, the chicken dinners brought in close to $1700 in benefits for the cemetery.  Best of all, patrons and volunteers alike had a good time - there were no unhappy faces and everyone was well-fed!

Capital City Rescue Mission cordially invites you to attend its Annual Benefit Banquet & Silent Auction, “CELEBRATING GOD’S FAITHFULNESS!” You may attend either Tuesday or Wednesday, October 23 or 24, at Michael’s Banquet House, 1019 Route 9 North, Latham.  Silent Auction begins at 5 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. each evening.  KRC has traditionally been well-represented at this inspiring event, where you will hear how your volunteer efforts, prayers, and generous support make a difference in the lives of those who are hungry, street-weary, and hopeless.  Proceeds of the banquet will benefit individuals through our Supportive Housing Program, and you will want to see and hear about the progress of this project. Choose the evening you would like to attend, and see or call Paul Clause, 859-4158.  Your reservation and ticket payment will be made for you, and you can reimburse KRC $20 per ticket reserved by dropping your designated check into the offering plate at anytime. RESERVATIONS SHOULD BE MADE NO LATER THAN THIS COMING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13, and TICKETS WILL BE DELIVERED TO YOU BY SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21.  CCRM banquet organizers will arrange for those attending from KRC to be seated together at 1 or 2 tables, depending on the number of reservations we make.  Reservations may also be made by calling the Mission directly at 462-0421 BEFORE October 14.   Let the representative know if you would like to be seated with the KRC group.

~Invitation to Planning Meeting, Early Morning Worship Service at KRC~

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In our quest to “Know Christ and Make Him Known,” the Kinderhook Reformed Church would like to invite you to prayer and for conversation on beginning an early and more contemporary worship service. The Consistory would like to include you as part of a devoted team who come together in prayer and planning every Sunday at 8:30 am in the Fellowship Room. We believe that with a clear mission, mindset, and much conversation and prayer, we are following our Lord’s lead.  If the Lord is calling you to be part of the formation of this ministry at Kinderhook Reformed Church, please join us.

KRC’s share of support is $6,546 this year for services and resources to be provided for us by the Reformed Church in America at the local, regional, and national levels. EACH MEMBER’S SHARE OF THIS YEAR’S CLASSIS ASSESSMENT HAS BEEN SET AT $81.72, UP ONLY 87¢ FROM LAST YEAR!  All who are able to do so are encouraged to offer, over and above regular giving, their share of this support.  The full share does not have to be given at one time, but may be given in as many increments as are convenient. For those who are able, but have not yet contributed to the assessment, a donation of $6.81 per week for the remaining 12 weeks of this year would meet an individual member’s share. All contributions made for this purpose should be clearly designated, “Classis Assessment.”  MANY THANKS TO THOSE WHO HAVE DONATED A TOTAL OF $2,354 TO DATE TO HELP DEFRAY THIS EXPENSE.

Remember To Thank & Praise God for
