Drawing Near to God

Call to Worship -Based on 2 Corinthians 5:16-20

Whoever is in Christ is a new creation.
The old has gone; the new has come!
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ.
We receive God's ministry of reconciliation

and commit to spreading the message.
As God counts not our sins against us,

neither do we count others' sins against them.
We are therefore Christ's ambassadors as God makes his appeal through us.

*Hymn of Praise #20                                                                 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee

Allowing God to Shape Us

  Call to Confession

We may be able to convince ourselves of our own goodness . . . even faithfulness. But in the light of God’s loving justice, we cannot hide, for we are a sinful people. Let us come before him, who knows everything about us, and confess our sin.

  Prayer of Confession  (Unison)

Almighty God, we confess our disobedience to your law and ultimate example of love. We are so eager to be critical of others and so quick to see the faults of others while being contentedly blind to our own. Forgive us for failing to understand and accept the great demands placed upon us by your love. At this moment, O Lord, we are keenly aware that you see us clearly, and we ask you to come and convict our hearts as only you can. In your divine justice and mercy, call us back and give us humble and obedient hearts. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness  (Responsive)  Based on Psalm 145

The Christ who taught us how to forgive continues to forgive us - not once, but over and over again. The mercy of the Lord is everlasting. Friends this is the Good News of the gospel - hear it and believe:  Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners!

              Thanks be to God. Amen.

Coming before God’s Open Word

Prayer of Blessing upon Our Children

Lord Jesus, draw our children into the glory of your divine presence and goodness. May each of them know your infinite love; may they love you wholeheartedly in return and be eager to show your love to others.  Amen.

  Prayer for Illumination

  Scripture                                                                                                  Luke 8:26-39 (p. 732)

Message                                                                                  "O Church, Where Art Thou?"

  Prayer of Thanks

*Offertory Prayer (Unison)

*Hymn of Devotion #509                                                                           O, How I Love Jesus

Calling All Singers!

On Sunday, June 26, at 4 p.m., Rev. Paige Convis will be installed at Kinderhook Reformed Church as Associate Pastor charged with full-time rural ministry to the Stuyvesant Reformed Church and the Reformed Dutch Church of Schodack at Muitzeskill.

We need you to be a part of a JOINT CHOIR being formed for this special occasion.  A short (less than an hour) rehearsal will be held at KRC on THURSDAY, JUNE 23, at 6:30 p.m., in order to sing through the anthem and hymns to be used at the service and prepare to be excellent worship leaders!

If you are able to participate in this music ministry, kindly respond by emailing krc@fairpoint.net or contact Paul Clause.

The Broad Street Bagel Shop donates bagels to KRC weekly, which are portioned into plastic bags and stored in the freezer section of the church’s refrigerator.  Please feel free to help yourself to whatever you can use.

PULPIT FLOWERS

Many KRC family and friends have, in the past, provided cut flowers for the pulpit in celebration of an anniversary or birthday, in honor of a special day or event, and in loving memory of family and friends who have passed away. This time of year, arrangements must be purchased; however, during the summer months, those of you who are gardeners are invited to arrange and display your own garden flowers on a Sunday of your choice.  If you are interested in purchasing or providing flowers for a particular Sunday, please contact Dawn, 758-7564.

~STEWARDSHIP UPDATE~

This past Sunday our weekly offering was $1813, well below our weekly need of $3,000. This and previous shortfalls have resulted in a current budget deficit of $8,563 as reflected in the figures below. Regular contributors are asked to “double up” on their giving if they miss a Sunday, and Stewardship Ministry urges that everyone give prayerful consideration to how they might adjust their giving to help keep income at a level that will meet daily operating expenses.

Total income to date:    $72,499

Total expenses to date: $81,062

Inspired by the abundance with which the Lord has blessed us,

let us continue, as his faithful stewards, to be ever mindful of the need

to maintain a weekly offering sufficient to cover our commitments.
