WELCOME TO THE HUDSON RIVER BELLS
Established in 1998 by its founding and current director, Kathy Boyer, the Hudson River Bells is an intermediate/advanced level handbell choir with an intergenerational group of 14 bell ringers from the First Reformed Church of Athens. The choir rings a 5-octave set of English handbells and choir chimes, and will be sharing their talents and the beauty of their instruments throughout today’s 10 am combined Communion Worship service. The Celebration Ringers, consisting of several teens and several of the Hudson River Bells ringers, will present a special story and number specifically for children. In addition to our regular offering today, a love offering will be taken as a thank-you to the Bells and to help cover travel and other choir-related expenses.

The Kinderhook Reformed Church Cemetery is sponsoring a BROOKS BAR-B-CUE again this year on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. on the front lawn of the church. Advance tickets will be available from members of the Cemetery Committee, and reservations can be made by calling the church office, 758-6401. Full BBQ chicken dinner is $11; ½ chicken only is $6. All proceeds from the BBQ will go toward operation and maintenance of the cemetery grounds, an increasingly costly ministry to our community.

Pray especially for the thousands of refugees flooding into European countries from the war-torn Middle East, and for wisdom and compassionate spirits for the leaders and institutions of these countries as they attempt to cope with the overwhelming magnitude of this situation.
- the desperately poor population of Madagascar, and especially for those residents who attended the business-development training sessions provided recently by a U.S. team of Christian businessmen; pray that the knowledge shared will lead to successful small-business growth and a better quality of life for many. Thank God also for Isabelle Bosquet-Morra's safe travel to and from Madagascar, where she acted as an interpreter at the training sessions. Isabelle is very appreciative of all your prayers for her during her mission there.
- families and friends grieving the death of loved ones, especially Alan and Susan Patterson and the Boylan Family grieving the recent loss of Susan's father-in-law, James Boylan. Remember especially Priscilla, James's wife.

Not since World War II has there been a refugee crisis that matched the seriousness of the current situation in Europe and the Middle East. Nearly 4 million people have fled Syria. Teachers, dentists, accountants—everyday people leaving their homes in hopes of finding a safe place for their children to live and grow up. To most of us in the United States and Canada, the thought of making the decision to leave all of our possessions and our homes behind because we no longer feel safe is unimaginable. But it is the choice that millions in Syria have been forced to make, a choice that thousands more are making each day. RCA Global Mission has made a commitment to help. Through mission partnerships in Turkey, Iraq, Italy, Hungary, and Austria, we are helping to provide for the daily needs of families who have fled the conflict in Syria. Property Ministry is seeking to fill, as soon as possible, a part-time sexton position (up to 15 hours per week) to take over the in-house duties of Greg Clause. CLARION CONCERTS WILL PRESENT A LEAF PEEPER CONCERT

The Leaf Peeper Concerts are presented each fall by Clarion Concerts in Columbia County, founded by the late musicologist and conductor, Newell Jenkins and his partner, Jack Hurley. It is the oldest classical music organization in Columbia County, New York, which is noted for its spectacular fall foliage. From its inception, the Leaf Peeper Series has added a colorful musical dimension to this autumn bounty by presenting world class chamber music concerts in various locations throughout the region. As it begins its 34th season, the Leaf Peeper Series under the direction of acclaimed flutist Eugenia Zukerman will continue to attract residents and visitors from a wide area with programs that focus on traditional and contemporary chamber music.
Clarion Concerts in Columbia County promotes the performance of traditional and contemporary chamber music. Clarion encourages a wide spectrum of listeners to attend its concerts, including children and young adults; it seeks to enhance listeners’ understanding of chamber music by offering an educational component to its programs; it provides performance opportunities for promising young professionals; and it supports the expansion of the chamber music repertoire by commissioning new works by worthy composers.
