Boldly Approaching Our God

Call to Worship  (Responsive) Adapted from Psalm 68:32-35

Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth, sing praise to the Lord.
To him who rides across the highest heavens,

the ancient heavens, who thunders with mighty voice.
Proclaim the power of God.
Whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the heavens?
You, God, are awesome in your sanctuary;

The God of Israel gives power and strength to his people.
       Praise be to God!

*Hymn of Praise #70                                                God Is Love, Let Heaven Adore Him

  Call to Confession

Psalm 1:1 says, “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.” Come let us delight in the law of the Lord, and meditate on his law!

  Confession of our Sin (Responsive)

Pastor:  You shall love the Lord your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.  (Luke 10:27)

All:   And they'll know we are  Christians by our love,  by our love.  Yes they'll

know we are Christians by our love. Lord, forgive us when we offend you!

Elder:  "Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God. (I John 4:7)

All:   And  they'll know we are Christians by our love,  by our love.  Yes they'll

know we are Christians by our love. Lord, forgive us when we fail you!

Deacon:   God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him...We love because he first loved us.  (I John 4:16, 19)

All:   And they'll know we are Christians by our love,  by our love.  Yes they'll

know we are Christians by our love. Lord, forgive us when we ignore you!

Pastor:   This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you . . . .This I command you: love one another. (John 15:13-14, 17)

All:  And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love, Yes they'll know we are Christians by our love. Lord, forgive us when we demand love without loving ourselves! Amen.

  Assurance of Pardon

Listen! Hear this good news! The grace of God surrounds us and goes before us and God's love for us is stronger than our misdeeds. You are forgiven! Receive this good news and breathe in the breath of God's forgiving love. Amen.

  Children’s Message and Blessing

Heavenly Father, bless our children with wisdom.  Give them a constant hunger for more, and fill them with the knowledge of your Word and your will.  Grant them a life-giving reverence for you, for that is where wisdom begins.  Amen.

We ask that you would accept and consecrate all these gifts to further your work in the world. Amen.

Postlude                            Prélude from Suite Médiévale                         Jean Langlais

Dear KRC Family,

We are incredibly thankful for the love and generosity shown to us as we prepared for our daughter's arrival. The shower was beautiful and greatly appreciated. We would like to thank everyone for the amazing gifts, the food, and the time spent organizing, setting up, and cleaning. We are blessed to have such a supportive church family in our corner, and we look forward to raising Ellie in this environment.

Thank you also to the Sunday school program for the tips, words of encouragement, and name suggestions. We enjoyed going through the book!

                                                              With love,

                                                              Derick, Heather, and Elliot LaTorre

The CROP walk was a success!  It did rain and hail, but the sun came out too!  By the end of the day, $8,400 had been raised, with more donations expected to come in over the next few weeks.  KRC contributed $1,200 to the day’s total.

Bev Van Alstyne, as you know, is now home from rehab, and it is time to step up and lend a helping hand to Bev and Dick.  Dick has arranged in-home help for each morning of the week, but Bev would appreciate visitors on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday afternoons.  Please let Dick or Erika Johnson know a day or two in advance of your visit so that Dick can plan an outing for himself during that time. Dick's cell phone is 965-6318, and Erika may be reached at 828-6726. Erika will be visiting with Bev this coming Monday. Please consider prayerfully how you can become a part of this ministry to these faithful members of our church family.

All are welcome to come and to invite family and friends to a delicious all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast SATURDAY, MAY 31, from 8 – 11 am in the Fellowship Hall.  Sausage, coffee, and juice will be served along with the pancakes. No reservations needed, free-will donations accepted, and each year a different charity is chosen to receive the proceeds.

Outside on the same day, “rain or shine”, the Outreach Ministry will hold its Annual Plant Swap/Sale from 8 am - 12 noon on the front steps of the church.  Please consider contributing extra divisions or cuttings from your garden to this popular event. We will set up on Friday. If you have something you need divided but need help, please see/call Maureen Mooney.  We will also pick up plants if you cannot drop them off. Anyone who helps at the Pancake Breakfast gets to take advantage of a pre-sale/swap Friday evening from 4 - 8 when we will be setting up. Please invite your friends and neighbors.

During the month of May, The Eddy/St. Peter’s Health Partners are offering free installation of a traditional emergency help button (a savings of around $50), or the new mobile alert with a gps.  Anyone who is homebound should consider getting an emergency help button.  Active individuals should consider the new mobile/gps system. The monthly cost for either  system after free installation is $38.  For information on how to obtain these services, call the Eddy at 833-1040.
