  PRELUDE
WELCOME, SILENT PRAYER, & PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP
  VOTUM and GOD’S GREETING
Boldly Approaching Our God

CALL TO WORSHIP  (Responsive) - Adapted from Psalm 68:32-35
Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth, sing praise to the Lord.
To him who rides across the highest heavens, the ancient heavens,  who thunders with mighty voice.
      Proclaim the power of God.
Whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the heavens?
      You, God, are awesome in your sanctuary;
the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people.
Praise be to God!
*HYMN OF PRAISE #21 (Verses 1 & 3)                                  How Great Thou Art
CALL TO CONFESSION - Psalm 1:1-2
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.  But his delight in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
  PRAYER OF CONFESSION  (Unison)
Almighty God, you desire that your Son, our Savior, have first place in everything in our lives. Yet, we so easily relegate him to a lesser place, choosing to live for ourselves and apart from you. We have chosen to go our own way for too long, and we now recognize the foolishness of this. We confess our sin before you and pray for transformed lives because of the redemption that is to be found in your Son.
{Moment of Silence}
Heavenly Father, realign our lives with your call, here today!
Forgive us and reestablish us for one goal only, and that is to honor and glorify you.  O God, hear our prayer in the name of Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
  ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Beloved of God, the Lord’s mercy is from everlasting to everlasting. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. Hallelujah, Amen.
PRAISE SONGS                                     Majesty;  Jesus, by Your Great Love
  CHILDREN’S PRAYER BLESSING  (Unison)
All-knowing and faithful God, lead our children along paths of righteousness into the places and purposes that you have planned for their lives. May they trust always in your promise and power to guide and direct them in serving you and in bringing blessing to others.  Amen.

We Come Before God’s Open Word

  PRAYER for ILLUMINATION
  SCRIPTURE LESSON                                                      Hebrews 5:5-10 (p. 848)
MESSAGE             "Even Jesus Had To Be Obedient."
  PRAYER OF BLESSING
Celebrating God

WE GIVE OUR TITHES and OFFERINGS / OFFERTORY
*DOXOLOGY
  OFFERTORY PRAYER  (Unison)
Gracious God, you have blessed us with all that we need, and often more than we need.  Help us receive what you give with grace.  In turn, help us be generous - with our monetary gifts, our possessions, our talents, and our time. We ask that you would accept and consecrate all these gifts to further your work in the world. Amen.
ANNOUNCEMENTS CONCERNING THE FAMILY OF GOD
PASTORAL PRAYER OF INTERCESSION and THE LORD’S PRAYER
*HYMN #445                                  Just As I Am, without One Plea
BENEDICTION BLESSING & RESPONSE - My Friends, May You Grow in Grace
My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior.
My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
To God be the glory, now and forever, now and forever, amen. (2x)

Tricentennial Keynote Celebration Events May 20, 2012

• Organ Recital – David Smith
The pipe organ was originally built by William Allen Johnson of Westfield, Massachusetts, who began building organs in 1844.  Johnson was considered one of the best organ builders of his time, using only the finest materials.   The organ was restored in 1999 by Leonard A. Carlson of East Greenbush, New York, who was able to save and use 780 of the original pipes dating from the Civil War period, many of which had been damaged over the years.  288 new pewter pipes were shipped from the Netherlands to complete the ranks.   A wooden parapet was removed that had been separating the pipes from the rest of the gallery, and in its place new, dramatic woodworking was crafted by Mr. Carlson’s son and installed on each side of the rose window to contain and protect the pipes and to allow for a full and impressive view of the window.

                                              r12 True Spirituality
Being a genuine disciple of Christ flows out of a relationship with Him. It's about experiencing God's grace, not earning His love through performance. A real relationship with Jesus Christ will produce a follower whose life looks progressively more like His life. Romans 12 provides a relational profile of an authentic disciple: someone who is surrendered to God, separate from the world's values, sober in self-assessment, serving in love and supernaturally responds to evil with good. Christians who live out this kind of lifestyle are what we call r12 Christians. God is willing to go deeper and grow you into a real disciple . . . are you ready?
