Loving God, we confess that too often, Christ in us is hidden by our actions that would hurt rather than heal, that tear down rather than build up. Open our eyes that we may see you in the ones we say we love. Open our ears that we may be quicker to listen than to speak. Open our mouths to speak good rather than evil of our neighbors. Open our hearts to a desire to follow Jesus in full obedience to your will and your way. OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE AT KIDS’ SUMMER FREE LUNCH PROGRAM

KRC will be assisting again this year with the summer lunch program at the First Presbyterian Church, Valatie, for Ichabod Crane students. Most of the students who come - anywhere from 5 to 18 children and sometimes adults - have been part of the free lunch program during the school year.

We have committed to prepare lunch on the Fridays in July. All fruit, veggies, beverages, and supplies are provided by First Presbyterian Church and the Food Pantry. The menu is simple, and fruit pancakes, tacos, toasted cheese sandwiches, and Sloppy Joe’s were popular last year.

Three people are needed for each Friday to be responsible for the food prep, cooking and serving the main entree, and cleanup. Prep starts at 11:15 am, lunch is served from 12 noon to 1 pm, and doors close at 1:15 after cleanup. A sign-up sheet is available on the back table of the church (KRC) for those interested in volunteering. Please call Maureen Mooney at 210-6079 if you have questions about this ministry.

~ ”NEW DIRECTION” WELLNESS CLASS ~

KRC is offering a FREE 8 week class to improve wellness.  Class will be lead by Amy DeWeerd, licensed health 
coach.  A variety of topics will be covered from nutrition to sleep hygiene to stress reduction.  Class will 
meet on Wednesday nights from 6:30pm-7:15pm, beginning on August 2^nd.  Register by calling Amy (518) 522-4264.

PULPIT FLOWERS

Many KRC family and friends have, in the past, provided cut flowers for the pulpit in celebration of an anniversary or birthday, in honor of a special day or event, and in loving memory of family and friends who have passed away. During the summer months, those of you who are gardeners are invited to arrange and display your own garden flowers on a Sunday of your choice. If you are interested in providing flowers for a particular Sunday, contact Dawn, 758-7564.

The Dutch Reformed Church of Schodack at Muitzeskill will hold its annual Mini-Market and Chicken Barbeque on Saturday, August 12^th. They are also seeking vendors to sell a variety of goods at the mini-market. If you would like to donate items, call 732-2471, to make arrangements for drop off, which will start on 7/15. Drop off times will be Tuesdays and Thursdays between 6 and 7:30, and Saturday's, between 10-12. Please do not drop items off without scheduling an appointment. NO clothing, stuffed animals, large appliances (including air conditioners), stuffed furniture, fitness machines or outdated electronics of ANY kind, will be accepted. ~KRC’S ANNUAL VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL AUGUST 21 - 25~

At this year's “Hero Central” Vacation Bible School, kids will take on awesome adventures alongside some of their favorite Bible heroes and discover the qualities that make us truly heroic in God. VBS Hero Central uses epic music, spectacular science, crafty crafts, heroic recreation, and fantastic Bible stories to help kids (and leaders) discover their strength in God! Open to kids ages 3 (potty trained) to Grade 8. VBS Runs from 9-noon each day, August 21 - 25. No fee to attend, but please register in advance if you can so we'll have enough supplies for everyone! Registration forms available at both Kinderhook and Muitzeskill Reformed churches, at the Cross Eyed Owl Gift shop, or you may call KRC at 758-6401 to register. A VBS PICNIC CELEBRATION WILL BE HELD ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 27 AT KRC!

~STOP HUNGER NOW FOOD-PACKAGING EVENT SCHEDULED SEPTEMBER 9~

Stop Hunger Now, which has recently rebranded itself “Rise Against Hunger,” packages and ships food and 
life-saving aid to the world’s most vulnerable people and works to end global hunger in our lifetime.  This 
year, nearly 60 million meals will be packaged and distributed to needy locations around the world.  A RISE 
AGAINST HUNGER FOOD-PACKAGING EVENT IS AN IMMENSELY-REWARDING EXPERIENCE OF EASY, HANDS-ON WORK, FUN, AND 
FELLOWSHIP THAT YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS!  A group of 40 to 50 volunteers (any age) can package over 10,000 
meals in just two hours.  Our local packaging event will take place Saturday, September 9, at the Kinderhook 
Town Hall (formerly Martin H. Glynn school) on Church Street in Valatie, during which we hope to pack 20 – 30 
thousand meals.  Plan to save this date on your calendar and to lend a helping hand to this extraordinary 
ministry. Donation baggies and canisters are now available on the back table of the sanctuary to take home for 
saving up your contributions, and you are encouraged to take canisters to work or to businesses willing to 
display them. A donation of 29¢ buys one meal, $29 one hundred meals, $290 one thousand meals.

~ BROOKS BBQ CEMETERY BENEFIT SEPTEMBER 27~

Brooks BBQ will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.  Baked potatoes will be included with the dinner, 
but Brooks is no longer serving beverages or cookies as part of their standard menu. All proceeds will go to 
support operational expenses of the Kinderhook Reformed Church Cemetery Association.

Please continue to pray for complete healing for Ron, and for strength, reassurance, and peace for both him and Judie as they deal with these issues without any family or other significant support system in Florida.

Sally Heimroth, recovering following open-heart surgery recently. Some days are better than others for Sally, but she is gaining strength each day. Please continue to pray for her speedy and complete recovery and return to full health, and pray also for her family as they assist in her recuperation. Jean Wildermuth, who was scheduled to have eye surgery on Tuesday, in hopes of having more successful results than a prior surgery. She will need to be fairly immobile for a period of time after the surgery, so the next couple of weeks will be very stressful. Pray for a successful procedure and a speedy and complete healing for Jean, and for God's reassurance and peace for both her and Bob.

Connie Witkowski, mother of Laura, a friend of Cricket Warren. Connie was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on an ovary and had previously been diagnosed cancer free after treatment for bladder cancer.
