  Welcome and Announcements

  Call to Worship  (Responsive) - Based on Psalm 89 from The Message

Your love, God, is our song, and we will sing it!
        We will forever tell everyone how faithful You are.
We will never quit telling the story of Your love;
        how you built the cosmos and guaranteed everything in it.
Your love has always been our lives' foundation.
        Your fidelity has been the roof over our world.
God! Let the cosmos praise Your wonderful ways;
        the choir of holy angels sing anthems to Your faithful ways.
If we search high and low, scan skies and land,
        we'll find nothing and no one quite like You, God.
All we are and have we owe to You.

       Holy God of Israel, You are out king!

2013 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL A HUGE SUCCESS

Praise God for all the volunteers from the Kinderhook and Muitzeskill Reformed Church families and friends who worked so faithfully to make this year’s VBS outreach program one of the best ever.  Our heart-felt “Thank-you!” to each of you. Daily attendance was around and just over 100, with 112 children present on the best-attended day! If possible, please take a moment to offer your special thanks personally to Patti Varga for her talents and tireless efforts as VBS Coordinator.

KRC’s share of support is $5,788 this year for services and resources to be provided for us by the Reformed Church in America at the local, regional, and national levels. EACH MEMBER’S SHARE OF THIS YEAR’S CLASSIS ASSESSMENT HAS BEEN SET AT $85.12 (up $3.40 from last year).  All who are able to do so are encouraged to offer, over and above regular giving, their share of this support.  The full share does not have to be given at one time, but may be given in as many increments as are convenient. For those who are able, a donation of $3.40 per week for the remaining 25 weeks of this year would meet an individual member’s share. All contributions made for this purpose should be clearly designated, “Classis Assessment.”

MANY THANKS AND BLESSINGS TO THE KRC FAMILY FOR THEIR GENEROSITY IN SUPPORT OF THE VALATIE FOOD PANTRY.  Foods that are always popular and needed are evaporated milk; coffee; sugar; boxed cereals; pancake mix; syrup; jelly; canned meats, fruits, and vegetables; spaghetti sauce; pasta; mac & cheese; dinner helpers; apple sauce; juice; cake & brownie mixes. Donations may be placed in the collection containers available in the front and side entryways of the church.

 Many KRC family and friends have, in the past, provided cut flowers for the pulpit in celebration of an anniversary or birthday, in honor of a special day or event, and in loving memory of family and friends who have passed away.  During the summer months, those of you who are gardeners are invited to arrange and display your own garden flowers on a Sunday of your choice.  If you are interested in providing flowers for a particular Sunday, please contact Dawn, 758-7564.

The KRC Cemetery Committee is pleased to announce the opening of Kinderhook Cemetery’s COLUMBARIUM, a portion of the cemetery specifically designed for cremation burials.  If you would like more information, please speak to Greg Clause, cemetery supervisor, or Jim Dunham, Cemetery Committee chairperson.

"THE OLDE DUTCH AND SUCH" CRAFTS GROUP MEETS ON FRIDAYS AT 9:30 A.M. in the main floor classroom opposite the church office. We are creating new plans and new items for the 2013 KRC Bazaar, and we are very much in need of new members and new ideas.  Last year’s preparation workshops were full of fun, laughter, and good fellowship, and the bazaar was a huge success.  We warmly welcome you to join us in our efforts to make this year’s even better!

We are in need of empty 28 oz plastic coffee containers, the type usually used by Folger's or Maxwell House to package their coffee.  Kindly bring any containers you may have to the church office, and they will be picked up from there.  Many thanks.

~A MESSAGE FROM GHENT REFORMED CHURCH~

Dear Kinderhook Reformed Church Family.

     The Ghent Reformed Church is excited about taking on an ambitious mission project, and we hope you can take part in it also!  Funding has already been secured, so we’re not asking for money. What we need are volunteers.  We plan to package 10,000 meals through the Meal Packaging Program from the Stop Hunger Now organization, which is an international hunger relief effort. It is an independent group, not associated with any church or other organizations, and has provided millions of meals in more than 43 countries since its inception in 1998.  Some from our church have already taken part in one of these events and found it to be a most humbling and rewarding experience.  The meals, all dehydrated, are distributed in schools, mostly in under-developed countries. Each packet serves six people. By using schools for distribution, the children are getting an education, along with feeding their families, who are eager for the help.

     This event is scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2013. It will begin at 10:00 am with a short time of devotions, followed by a brief gathering to learn about world hunger and the true blessings we have in our small community. Lunch is at noon and the meal packaging process begins at 1:00 pm. Believe it or not, this should only take about an hour and a half. The packets are then put into boxes and loaded on trucks.  We hope some of your folks (Sunday School students, youth group, as well as adults) will be willing to participate in any or all of the day.  Feeling this is such an incredibly worth-while effort to feed the children around the world, while also encouraging their education, it is our belief that the Lord intended for us to pursue this mission project. He is already providing the $2,500 needed to cover the 25¢ cost of each packet of food.

     We are asking for your help as we need 40 people to commit to this project, so we are letting you know about it over the summer so you can decide if you will participate. A sign-up sheet for this purpose, along with a brochure with additional information explaining the program, are available on the back table of your sanctuary.  Kindly let us know by Saturday, September 14, how many of you we can count on. Please e-mail Nora Van Brunt at grandvan@fairpoint.net, or call her at 392-2657 to tell us your response.  We look forward to sharing this amazing opportunity with you, and would appreciate your participation. Thank you.

SEA TO SEA - BIKE RIDE TO END  POVERTY
Rev. Joanna Tipple, former pastor at the Livingston Memorial Church in Linlithgo, is participating in a 3900 mile, 9-week bicycle ride which began June 21 in Los Angeles, and will end in New York City. Hosted by the Reformed Church in America, Partners Worldwide, and the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee/World Renew - an agency of the Christian Reformed Church in North America - the ride endeavors  to raise awareness of poverty and respond to the need.  Joanna will commit to raising $5,000, and is appealing to friends and relatives for pledges and prayers.  You can donate to help her reach her personal goal at http://www.seatosea.kintera.org  Additional information about Sea-to-Sea may be found on the back table.
