Prelude Make Me a Servant, Humble and Meek #653
Welcome, Announcements, and God’s Greeting
Drawing Near to God
Call to Worship (Responsive) Based on selected Old Testament passages
Come and extol God, who humbles and tests us to know what is in our hearts,
to see if we will keep his commandments.
Come and exalt God, who opposes the proud,
who commands us to clothe ourselves with humility toward one another.
Come and worship God, who shows favor to the humble,
who forgives their sin and heals their land,
so that in the end it might go well with them.
*Hymn of Praise #95 All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name
Allowing God to Shape Us
Call to Confession
In his infinite love for us, Jesus submitted to the will of his Father, exchanged his divine glory for the lowly estate of a servant, and took upon himself the sins of the world. Let us confess together our share of the burden Christ suffered on the cross for our salvation.
Prayer of Confession (Unison)
O God, who resists the proud and gives grace to the humble, help us to develop the spiritual fruit of humility that is so necessary if we are to mature into a deeper knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Forgive us for the times we have acted out of sinful ambition or selfishness, and teach us to regard the needs and desires of others as more important than our own. May we never by our pride provoke your anger or give offence, but rather by our meekness receive the riches of your grace and serve as a blessing to others. Teach us to live as Christ lived, who despite being God incarnate, walked always in humble submission to you. Amen.
Assurance of Forgiveness (Responsive) Based on Psalm 145
The Lord is near to all who call on him. He hears the cries of those who fear him and are bowed down. In his great mercy, he lifts them up and saves them.
Praise be to our God of compassion! Amen.
Coming before God’s Open Word
Prayer for Illumination
Scripture 1 Peter 5:1-7 (p. 859)
Message "The Way Up Is Down."
Prayer of Thanks
*Hymn #473 And Can It Be That I Should Gain?
Celebrating God
Offering/Offertory Jesus, by Your Great Love for Us, You Were Brought Low
*Doxology (#809)
Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise him all creatures here below.
Praise him above ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
*Offertory Prayer (Unison)
In the name and after the example of Jesus, we give ourselves and these offerings up to you and to your service, O God. With ready hands, willing spirits, and cheerful hearts, we submit all to your blessed will. Amen.
Prayer Requests and Pastoral Prayer
*Prayer Hymn #101 My Jesus I Love Thee
*Benediction, Blessing, and Response Hymn My Friends May You Grow in Grace

~NOTES OF THANKS FROM OUTREACH MINISTRY~
We hope everyone was able to meet our RCA missionary to Taiwan, Dave Alexander, and enjoy his inspirational and informative presentations. A special thanks to all who made his recent visit a success by acting as hosts and providing food and help for the reception brunch following worship last Sunday.
Praise God, our recent Annual Pancake Breakfast raised $585 to benefit the Wee Care ministry. A huge thank-you to all of our chefs, servers, and workers who made the morning a success! We all enjoyed Christian fellowship while serving our Lord!
~NEW SEWING GROUP BEING CONSIDERED AT KRC~
A signup sheet is available on the back table for those who would like to take part in starting a sewing group at KRC. Although some ideas have already been put forward about sewing for different charities, the direction the group takes and what it decides to sew all depends on who joins. If you enjoy sewing, please consider taking advantage of this outreach opportunity.
PULPIT FLOWERS
Many KRC family and friends have, in the past, provided cut flowers for the pulpit in celebration of an anniversary or birthday, in honor of a special day or event, and in loving memory of family and friends who have passed away. This time of year, arrangements must be purchased; however, during the summer months, those of you who are gardeners are invited to arrange and display your own garden flowers on a Sunday of your choice. If you are interested in purchasing or providing flowers for a particular Sunday, please contact Dawn, 758-7564.

~STEWARDSHIP UPDATE~
This past Sunday our weekly offering was $3529, well into the range of our weekly need of $3,000. Still, previous shortfalls, have resulted in a current budget deficit of $8,202 as can be seen from the figures below. Regular contributors are asked to “double up” on their giving if they miss a Sunday, and Stewardship Ministry urges that everyone give prayerful consideration to how they might adjust their giving to help keep income at a level that will meet daily operating expenses.
Total income to date: $70,686
Total expenses to date: $78,888
Inspired by the abundance with which the Lord has blessed us,
let us continue, as his faithful stewards, to be ever mindful of the need
to maintain a weekly offering sufficient to cover our commitments.
