The Approach to God
Prelude Deck Thyself, My Soul with Gladness J.S. Bach
Welcome
*Processional Hymn (Insert) Let Us Build a House
*Votum and Sentences (Responsive) Rev. Jonathan Vanderbeck
Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Amen.
There is one body and one spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God of all, who is above all and through all and in all.
Each of us was given grace
according to the measure of Christ's gifts.
Christ appointed some to be apostles, some prophets,
some evangelists, some pastors and teachers.
Christ did this to equip the saints for the work of ministry,
for building up the body of Christ, and for serving a broken world.
And so we come together in oneness of faith
and in certain knowledge of the Son of God.
We come to bring glory to God only,
and to celebrate his gracious gifts to all of us.
In this spirit of unity and service, let us worship God.

*Hymn of Praise #53 Let All Things Now Living
Call to Confession Rev. Nicholas Dorland
Prayer of Confession (Responsive)
Mighty and merciful God, you have called us to be your people, and claimed us for the service of Jesus Christ.
We confess that we have not lived up to our calling. We have been timid disciples, forgetting the power of your love and the strength of your Spirit among us. O God, forgive our foolish and broken ways. As you have chosen us and claimed us in our baptism, strengthen us anew to choose Christ's way in the world. Give us your Holy Spirit that each one in ministry may be provided with all the gifts of grace needed to fulfill our common calling; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Words of Assurance
Choral Response/Guide for Grateful Living Let Us Build a Church
God of creation, Maker of all thing, we gather in this place to pray.
We do invite you come now among us. Come build Your church today.
Come build a church with soul and spirit, come build a church of flesh and bone. We need no tower rising skyward; no house of wood or glass or stone.
Come build a church of human frailty, come build a church of flesh and blood.
Jesus shall be its sure foundation. It shall be built by the hand of God.
Let us see the tongues of fire. Let us hear the great wind roar.
Let us know the awe and wonder that we’ve only glimpsed before.
Let us feel the strength of passion, which can make us laugh and weep.
Let us know this great awakening. For so long we’ve been asleep.
Let us know the love unceasing, which alone can loose the bounds.
Reaching out across the chasms, bringing walls of hatred down.
Hold us in the sweet connection, turning strangers into friends.
Come build a church with soul and spirit, come build a church of flesh and bone. We need no tower rising skyward; no house of wood or glass or stone.
Come build a church of human frailty, come build a church of flesh and blood. Jesus shall be its sure foundation. It shall be built by the hand of God.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

We Respond in Thanksgiving and Service
*Thanksgiving (Responsive)
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me, bless God’s holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all God’s benefits.
God gave Jesus Christ for us all, and will give us all things with Christ.
Therefore, shall my mouth and heart show forth
the praise of the Lord from this time forth, forevermore.
