Announcements and God’s Greeting
Call to Worship (Responsive) Based on Psalms 95 and 96
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before Him with thanksgiving, with music and with song,
for the Lord is the great King above all gods.
Come, let us bow down in worship.
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is our God,
and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.
Come, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name.
Let us bring an offering and come into His courts.
Let us worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness.
*Hymn of Praise #26 Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven
Turning Our Hearts to God
Call to Confession Based on Isaiah 45:21-22 and Romans 4:5
“There is no God apart from me,” says the Lord. “I am a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me. Seek after me, for I am God, and there is no other.” Let us turn to God and be saved, all of us. Let us trust in Him, and He will justify us and count our faith as righteousness.
Prayer of Confession and Assurance of Pardon (Unison)
Righteous God, who will judge the living and the dead, we confess that, rather than follow you in faithful obedience, we blindly pursue worldly pleasures and passions. We acknowledge our need of Your salvation. Purify us from all wickedness, and strengthen our hearts with Your holiness.
Empower us to be self-controlled and upright in this present age, eager to trust in You and serve You, without reservation, while we wait for the blessed hope - the glorious appearing of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
[Silent Prayer of Confession]
Praise be to God, who forgives us through faith in his Son, our Redeemer;
who keeps us pure and blameless - who sanctifies us body, soul, and spirit for His righteous purposes - until the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Children’s Blessing (Unison)
Loving Father, transform our children into the likeness of Your living Son, Jesus Christ. Guard them from the evils of this world, and renew their faith in You day by day. Bring them ever closer to Christ’s perfection, and clothe them in His righteousness. Amen.
Allowing God to Shape Us
Prayer for Illumination
Old Testament Scripture Lesson Genesis 12:1-4 (p. 8)
New Testament Scripture Lesson Romans 4:1-3, 13-17; John 3:1-17 (pp. 797, 751)
Message “Uncomfortable Faith”
Prayer of Blessing
Presentation of Our Tithes and Offerings/Offertory
Prelude in G major, Op. 37/2 F. Mendelssohn
*Doxology and Offertory Prayer (Unison)
Heavenly Father, with glad and eager hearts we lay our offerings before You. Sanctify them for the purpose of bringing honor and glory to the name and Gospel of Christ, and increase to His kingdom. Amen.
Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer
*Hymn of Commitment #576 I Have Decided to Follow Jesus
*Benediction, Blessing, and Response Hymn My Friends May You Grow in Grace
My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior.
My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
To God be the glory, now and forever, now and forever, amen. (2x)
Postlude Fugue in G major, Op. 37/2 F. Mendelssohn
~CONCERT IN THE VILLAGE, 3 P.M. SUNDAY, MARCH 30 ~
The third offering in the 2013-2014 Concerts in the Village series will be "Henry Purcell Sacred and Secular: Home, Church, and Dramatic Music of the Early Baroque in England.” Featured will be the Broad Street Chorale, soloists Amanda Boyd, Jon Morrell and others, and orchestra. This program will include a concert performance of Dido and Aeneas, the first important opera in the English language, as well as instrumental and solo vocal music.
IF YOU ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE FINGER-FOOD ITEMS
FOR THE RECEPTION FOLLOWING THE MARCH 30th CONCERT,
PLEASE SIGN UP ON THE SHEET AT THE BACK TABLE.
Kinderhook Reformed Church is pleased to present the 2014 portion of Concerts in the Village (CITV), a concert series begun 4 years ago under the sponsorship of KRC’s Stewardship Ministry as a music outreach to the church’s surrounding communities featuring our refurbished pipe organ. Continuing under the dedicated administration of KRC’s CITV committee and the capable and talented leadership of music director and organist, David Smith, the series has evolved to include a variety of orchestral instrumentalists, vocal soloists, a chorus of over 70 voices (now known as the Broad Street Chorale), and a wide selection of sacred and secular pieces from diverse musical periods and cultures.
All concerts will be performed in KRC’s sanctuary, and a suggested donation of $15 will be gratefully accepted to assist in funding this exceptional series.
~WEE CARE – A NEW MINISTRY~
Wee Care is a new ministry providing mothers in need with receiving blankets and infant clothing. Although there were no sign-ups last week for the sewing session that was to be held at KRC next Saturday, March 22nd, some individuals have indicated that they are sewing items at home. Project coordinator Amy Deweerd will now be sewing at her home, 4125 Cramer Drive, Valatie, on the 22nd, and anyone who wishes is invited to join her there. Please see or call Amy, 610-9066.
UPDATE FROM PROPERTY MINISTRY
Property Ministry at the present time is made up of Patrice Lyons - Chairperson, Dawn Van Buren - Secretary, Gary Leggett - Treasurer, Alan Dick, Paul Zietsman and Barbara Vosburgh - Liaison to the Consistory. It is our intention to spend some time getting rid of much of the accumulation of years found in all parts of the building. Last week we opened the boiler room for an inspection by a man from the insurance company and found all the paper, cardboard and wooden signs from many events stacked along one of its walls. No combustibles should be in that room and we pulled them all out into the foyer downstairs. We ask each ministry to find someone who will take the signs it uses home to be stored there. With ALL materials please adopt the policy, If you carry it in, carry it out. Thank you in helping us to clean things up.
Two of the three pianos in the Sunday School classrooms, plus the electronic organ in the handicap ramp entranceway, are free-for-the- taking to anyone who would like to make use of them or who knows of someone who would. Although it has some issues, the organ is playable, and the pianos, which mainly need to be tuned, would make good practice instruments for beginning piano students. If interested, please contact Patti Varga.

The visitors’ cards are purchased from a professional printer, and are expensive to replace.
