  Announcements

  Welcome and God’s Greeting

  Drawing Near To God

  Call to Worship (Responsive)

As we gather for worship, so let us gather ourselves.
As we greet our neighbor, so let us greet God.
As we shake hands with a stranger, let him be a stranger no more.
As we speak openly with a friend, so let us talk openly to God.
As the candles are lit, so let our hearts be lit by the warmth of God's love.
We gather together to praise God and offer our thanksgiving

for the bounty that is ours. Alleluia! Amen!

*Opening Hymn of Praise (Insert )                     I Greet Thee Who My Sure Redeemer Art

Allowing God to Shape Us

  Call to Confession

Our world and our lives are not all that they should be. We fall short of reflecting the image of God and being the hands and feet of Christ to the world. Let us confess our sin, confident that God hears the cries of a sinner who repents.

  Prayer of Confession  (Responsive)

Merciful God, like the disciples we are short-sighted and small-minded. We focus on problems and needs and on what seem like logical or "possible" solutions. We rely on our own strengths and resources and are quickly overwhelmed. We forget to turn to you, and we fail to depend on your Spirit. Forgive us, Lord.

 [Moment of Quiet Confession]

Remind us yet again that your ways are not ours, and that with you, all things are possible.

Lord God, revitalize our faith and renew our hearts, that we might worship you fully. Renew us in faith and commitment, that we might trust you in every situation. Amen.

  Assurance of Pardon

What a precious gift that we do not remain broken and burdened by our sin! Jesus Christ forgives us, renewing us to walk in freedom and power.

       Thanks be to God. Amen.

  Children’s Blessing  (Unison)

Gracious Father, shower our children with blessings that exceed our dreams, and let your love flow abundantly into their lives.  Fill them with an irresistible desire to share your love and the gifts of your blessings with those who are in spiritual and physical need.   Amen.

Coming before God’s Open Word

  Prayer for Illumination

  Scripture                                                   Isaiah 66:12-13 (p. 533), John 13: 31-35 (p. 763)

Message                                            “Love Is . . . What You Do and Not What You Feel.”

 [Moment of Silent Reflection]

Silent Prayer for Those Seeking to Accept Christ as Their Savior:

"Dear Jesus, I confess that I'm a sinner, and I admit that I am not right with you. I repent and ask your forgiveness.  I believe that you died on the cross to take my punishment and to pay the price for my offences.  I believe that you rose from death to give me new life. Wash me clean, Jesus, from all sin, shame, and guilt, and come into my heart as my Lord and Savior.  In your name I pray.  Amen."

  Prayer of Thanks

    Celebrating God

  Offering and Offertory

*Doxology and Offertory Prayer  (Unison)

You have blessed us with every good gift, generous God. Our hearts overflow with joy and love for the privilege of walking with you and being called your own. Receive these gifts, we pray, as our faithful and grateful response to your gifts of grace and mercy in our lives. Amen.

  Mothers’ Day Prayer

Lord, on this day set aside to honor and remember mothers, we give you thanks for our mothers. We are grateful that you chose to give us life through them, and that they received the gift of life from your hands, and gave it to us. Thank you for the sacrifices they made in carrying us and giving us birth.

We thank you for the women who raised us, who were our mothers in childhood. Whether birth mom, adopted mom, older sister, aunt, grandmother, stepmother or someone else, we thank you for those women who held us and fed us, who cared for us and kissed away our pain. We pray that our lives may reflect the love they showed us, and that they would be pleased to be called our moms.

We pray for older moms whose children are grown.

Grant them joy and satisfaction for a job well done.

We pray for new moms experiencing changes they could not predict.

Grant them rest and peace as they trust you for the future.

We pray for pregnant women who will soon be moms.

Grant them patience and good counsel in the coming months.

We pray for moms who face the demands of single parenthood.

       Grant them strength and wisdom.

We pray for moms who enjoy financial abundance.

Grant them time to share with their families.

We pray for moms who are raising their children in poverty.

       Grant them relief and justice.

We pray for step-moms.

Grant them patience and understanding and love.

We pray for moms who are separated from their children.

       Grant them faith and hope.

We pray for moms in marriages that are in crisis.

       Grant them support and insight.

We pray for moms who have lost children.

Grant them comfort in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

(Continued on next page.)

We pray for moms who gave up their children for adoption.

Grant them peace and confidence as they trust in your providence.

We pray for adoptive mothers.

Grant them joy and gratitude for the gift you have provided.

We pray for girls and women who think about being moms.

       Grant them wisdom and discernment.

We pray for women who desperately want, or wanted, to be moms.

Grant them grace to accept your timing and will.

We pray for all women who have assumed the mother’s role in a child’s life.

Grant them joy and the appreciation of others.

We pray for those people present who are grieving the loss of their mother

in the past year.

Grant them comfort and hope in Christ’s resurrection.  Amen.

*Hymn of Thanks  #262                                                                      Rejoice, the Lord Is King

*Blessing, Benediction, and Response Hymn                       By the Gift of God’s Grace

By the gift of God’s grace may your burdens be light, and your heart with his love be aglow.

May your spirit be glad, may your soul be at rest,

and may Christ grant you peace as you go.  Amen.

To the Church in Kinderhook –

To be surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses humbles us. We are grateful for your support, humbled by your care, and strengthened through your friendship.  Thanks for your generosity in prayers and love.

                                                                                       With much gratitude and love,

(Kent, director of Camp Fowler and pulpit supply for KRC on several occasions, and his wife, Jill, lost their home and their dog, Jonah, to fire this past February.)

CLASSIS ASSESSMENT 2015

KRC’s share of support this year is $5,633.28 for services and resources to be provided for us by the Reformed Church in America at the local, regional, and national levels. EACH MEMBER’S SHARE OF THIS YEAR’S CLASSIS ASSESSMENT HAS BEEN SET AT $88.02.  All who are able to do so are encouraged to offer, over and above regular giving, their share of this support.  The full share does not have to be given at one time, but may be given in as many increments as are convenient. If offered weekly, that’s just over $2.40 weekly for the remaining weeks in this year. All contributions made for this purpose should be designated, “Classis Assessment.”
