As we come to you in prayer, O God, help us to focus our hearts and our minds on you. Time marches on, and we have to wonder: do we? Or are we content to revel in past accomplishments and surrender to complacency? Do past resentments drain us of our energy and deprive us of the joys of the present? In these moments of prayer, listening God, instill in us a deep appreciation of time: a most precious natural resource. Each time we set our clocks and replace batteries in our watches, let us be reminded of the gift of time that is ours . . . and help us to use it wisely. ~THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE BEGINS TODAY~
KRC’S OUTREACH MINISTRY IS ONCE AGAIN COLLECTING ITEMS FOR THE VALATIE ECUMENICAL FOOD PANTRY FOR THANKSGIVING. THE DRIVE BEGINS TODAY and will end on Sunday, November 17. Please place your bagged donations in the foyer on or before November 17. Suggested food items most needed are, CANNED SWEET POTATOES and YAMS; PUMPKIN; CRANBERRY SAUCE; WHITE, BLACK, and RED KIDNEY BEANS; FLOUR; SUGAR; CEREAL; and DISH SOAPS. Otherwise, bring in whatever your heart moves you to provide - any nonperishable food items will be welcomed! AS A RESULT OF THE PANTRY’S FOOD COLLECTION DRIVE LAST YEAR, OVER 100 THANKSGIVING BASKETS WERE DELIVERED TO NEEDY FAMILIES, AND KRC CONTRIBUTED SUBSTANTIALLY TO THIS EFFORT. KRC’S OLDE DUTCH & SUCH FALL BAZAAR/CRAFT FAIR
NEXT SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 10 AM – 3 PM
The Olde Dutch & Such bazaar will feature baked goods, hand crafted gifts, Christmas decorations, and a delicious lunch (served noon to 1:30 pm) prepared by Jeff Barmen. You are sure to find a treasure or two and to enjoy the home-made goodies and gourmet food. The bazaar is sponsored by church family ministry, and we look forward to seeing each of you there!
Sponsors are looking for volunteers to donate baked goods for sale and/or to work at the bazaar. If you are able to help out with either of these, a sign-up sheet is available on the back table.

The Kinderhook Reformed Church Cemetery Committee will serve an eat-in or take-out spaghetti-and-meatballs dinner open to the public Friday, November 8th, 4 – 7 pm. Dinner is $8 (children under 10 eat free), and will include bread, salad, and a free-will dessert table. We look forward to the pleasure of your company, and all proceeds will be used in the maintenance and operation of the cemetery.

On November 27, the Stuyvesant Reformed Church will be hosting the Ichabod Crane Council, Ecumenical Thanksgiving Eve Service. We are planning on having a combined choir of singers from all of the churches perform a special anthem. IF ANYONE FROM YOUR CHURCH WOULD BE INTERESTED, PLEASE CONTACT ME ASAP SO I CAN HAVE ENOUGH MUSIC AVAILABLE. There will probably be one or two rehearsals involved, but dates have not yet been set. ~CITV CONCERT SERIES PLANNED FOR 2013 – 2014~
Kinderhook Reformed Church is pleased to present the 2013 – 2014 season of Concerts in the Village (CITV), a concert series begun 4 years ago under the sponsorship of KRC’s Stewardship Ministry as a music outreach to the church’s surrounding communities featuring our refurbished pipe organ. Continuing under the dedicated administration of KRC’s CITV committee and the capable and talented leadership of music director and organist, David Smith, the series has evolved to include a variety of orchestral instrumentalists, vocal soloists, a chorus of over 70 voices (now known as the Broad Street Chorale), and a wide selection of sacred and secular pieces from diverse musical periods and cultures.
All of the following concerts will be performed in KRC’s sanctuary. A suggested donation of $15 will be gratefully accepted to assist in the ongoing funding of this exceptional series.
NOVEMBER 10, 2013 3:00 PM “Handel Sacred and Secular: Royal, Church and Theater Music of the Baroque in England” with the Broad Street Chorale, soloists Amanda Boyd, Jon Morrell and others, and orchestra. The program will include the third suite of The Water Music, the monumental anthem “The Ways of Zion do Mourn,” and opera arias, duets and choruses.
FEBRUARY, 2014 Chamber Concert: English Music of the Renaissance and Romantic Periods: Madrigals to Part Songs, Motets to Anthems. (Alternatively a concert devoted to the role of pastoral and folk music in England.)x
MARCH, 2014 Organ Recital by David Smith: English Organ Music from the 17th through 20th centuries.
MAY, 2014 “Purcell Sacred and Secular: Home, Church and Theater Music of the Early Baroque in England” with the Broad Street Chorale, soloists Amanda Boyd, Jon Morrell and others, and orchestra. This program will include the famously dramatic opera Dido and Aeneas, as well as the Te Deum and Jubilate of 1694 and a selection of consort and solo vocal music.
~NEW PERMANENT SIGN DEDICATION SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 10~
As part of our Worship Service Sunday, November 10, the new permanent outdoor sign built by Alan Dick will be dedicated to the purpose of helping communicate KRC’s gospel mission to our community. Coffee hour in the Fellowship Room following the dedication will provide a good opportunity to offer your thanks and appreciation to Alan for the outstanding job he has done.

Just a note to remind those who use the Fellowship Room and kitchen to take a few minutes to be sure that these rooms are left in good condition – refuse picked up from the floor, tables and serving counter cleared and wiped down if needed, coffee pots emptied and washed, dirty dishes placed in the dishwasher, sink rinsed down, etc. Your attention to these things will be greatly appreciated.

A NOTE ON NEXT YEAR’S (2014) CLASSIS ASSESSMENT~
In response to some who have had questions regarding the distribution of our Classis Assessment contributions, they are divided three ways among the General Synod (national), Albany Synod (regional), and Columbia-Greene Classis (local). Next year, 2014, the assessment will be $86.79, and will be distributed as follows:
General Synod: $49.29 (up $1.67 from 2013)
Albany Synod: $29.00 (unchanged from 2013)
C. G. Classis: $ 8.50 (unchanged from 2013)
2014 TOTAL $86.79
Please see RCA’s Stewardship Report (when it becomes available) for information on General Synod’s use of its share of assessed funds. Albany Synod’s portion is used to cover administrative and Camp Fowler expenses, as well as services to our congregation, including leadership development, library/video resources, and crisis management. Classis’s share is used to cover administrative costs and retreats.
KRC’s share of support is $5,788 this year for services and resources to be provided for us by the Reformed Church in America at the local, regional, and national levels. EACH MEMBER’S SHARE OF THIS YEAR’S CLASSIS ASSESSMENT HAS BEEN SET AT $85.12. All who are able to do so are encouraged to offer, over and above regular giving, their share of this support. All contributions made for this purpose should be clearly designated, “Classis Assessment.”
