~THANKSGIVING FOOD COLLECTION BEGINS~
KRC IS COLLECTING ITEMS FOR THE VALATIE ECUMENICAL FOOD PANTRY FOR THANKSGIVING. The program will begin TODAY, OCTOBER 28, and will end on November 18. Please place your bagged donations in the foyer on or before November 18. Suggested food items most needed are, CANNED SWEET POTATOES and YAMS; PUMPKIN; CRANBERRY SAUCE; WHITE, BLACK, and RED KIDNEY BEANS; FLOUR; SUGAR; CEREAL; and DISH SOAPS. Otherwise, bring in whatever your heart moves you to provide - any nonperishable food items will be welcomed! AS A RESULT OF THE PANTRY’S FOOD COLLECTION DRIVE LAST YEAR, 133 THANKSGIVING BASKETS WERE DELIVERED LOCALLY TO NEEDY FAMILIES, AND KRC ALONE CONTRIBUTED 318 FOOD ITEMS TO THIS EFFORT. LET’S MAKE THIS YEAR EVEN BETTER!
KRC’S CRAFT FAIR / BAZAAR IS NEXT SATURDAY
NOVEMBER 3, 10 AM - 4 PM
YOU ARE SURE TO FIND A TREASURE OR TWO, HOME-MADE GOODIES, AND A GOURMET LUNCH SPONSORED BY CHURCH FAMILY MINISTRY’S “OLDE DUTCH AND SUCH” CRAFTS GROUP. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING EACH OF YOU ON SATURDAY!
Sponsors are looking for volunteers to work at the bazaar, and are hoping to enlist enough people so that each volunteer will be needed for a 2-hour shift only. If you are able to help out on a shift, a sign-up sheet is available on the back table.
Set-up for the bazaar will begin at 5 pm Thursday evening, November 1, and will include additional hours on Friday if needed. Bazaar take-down and clean-up will begin at 9 am Monday morning, November 5. Volunteers are needed to offer their services for these activities as well.
The elementary-age Sunday School class is doing a “Learning to Use your Bible” course, and the KRC Sunday School is providing Bibles for the children to use in this study We are looking for Bible sponsors willing to donate $15 per sponsorship to help with the cost of the Bibles. Sponsors may drop their donations in the offering plate clearly designated “Bible Sponsorship,” and each sponsor will receive a bookmark imprinted with the names of all students in the class as a reminder to pray for them as they learn to use God’s Word.

The well-received Concerts in the Village series continues at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, with “The Glory of Mozart and Haydn” featuring chorus, soloists, and instrumental ensemble. The series is sponsored by the Kinderhook Reformed Church as part of its 300th anniversary celebration and is under the musical direction of David Smith. Bringing together 55 performers, this concert will include Haydn’s magnificent and dramatic “Lord Nelson” Mass, and Mozart’s Ave verum corpus, Andante and Veni sancte spiritus. In addition to some of the finest orchestral musicians in eastern New York, performers include vocal soloists Amanda Boyd, Carol Curran, Rose Hunsberger, Vicki Smith, Timothy Reno, and Charles Martin. Also performing will be flutist Sharon Levin, and organists Neil Keen and David Smith.
~CAPITAL CITY RESCUE MISSION BANQUET HIGHLIGHTS~
PRAISE GOD FOR THE 63-YEAR-OLD CAPITAL CITY RESCUE MISSION, A DYMANIC CHRIST-CENTERED MINISTRY DIRECTED FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS BY PERRY JONES AND SUPPORTED BY KRC’S MISSIONS GIVING. WHAT A BLESSING IT WAS FOR THOSE FROM KRC WHO ATTENDED ONE OF THE ANNUAL CCRM BANQUETS THIS PAST WEEK.
ALL WERE DEEPLY MOVED BY THE POWERFUL PERSONAL TESTIMONIES OF MEN AND WOMEN WHOSE SHATTERD LIVES ARE BEING REBUILT THROUGH THEIR GROWING SPIRITUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST. 22 PEOPLE NOW ON CCRM’S STAFF INITIALLY CAME TO THE MISSION IN NEED AND SEEKING HELP. ONCE THERE, THEY EXPERIENCED LONG-TERM AND PERMANENT LIFE CHANGES. THE EXTENT OF THE MISSION’S OUTREACH PROGRAMS SERVING THE NEEDY IS TRULY AMAZING: TO DATE THIS YEAR AT CCRM, 509 FAITH DECISIONS HAVE BEEN MADE; 60,500 BEDS PROVIDED; 260,000 MEALS SERVED; 371,000 FREE ARTICLES OF CLOTHING DISTRIBUTED; AND 2,600 PATIENTS TREATED IN CCRM’S FREE MEDICAL CLINIC.

~ FOND MEMORIES OF DELIVERING ANGEL TREE GIFTS ~
Back in the early days of Angel Tree, Chuck Colson, founder of Prison Fellowship, and his wife often personally delivered Christmas presents. One night, they discovered their directions led them to a housing project in a run-down and poorly-lit neighborhood. The Colsons knocked on the door and found a little boy all alone. His father was in prison and his mother was at work. “The boy’s eyes brightened as he saw the presents in our arms,” Chuck recalled. “The little guy pulled us into his living room. There was nothing but a chair, an old sofa with stuffing exposed, and a tree leaning haphazardly against the wall.”
“What’s your name?” Chuck asked.
“Emmanuel,” he replied.
Chuck opened his Bible to the Gospel of Matthew and said to Emmanuel, “Do you know what your name means? It means ‘God with us’ !” When his mother arrived soon after, Emmanuel ran to her and hugged her around the legs. “Mommy, mommy!” he cried, “God is with us!”
As Chuck later recalled, “Even in that seemingly-hopeless, drug-infested housing project, this apartment had become an island of joy and hope. Once again, Jesus had become real.”

Paul is recognizing family members, is able to speak in a whisper, and is now able to swallow well enough to eat relatively normally. At this time however, he is able to support weight on one side of his body only. Caryl and her family wish to thank you for your prayers, and have said that it is only because of your prayer support that the family is holding together as well as it is under the terrible stress of Paul's accident. Please continue to remember Paul, Karen, Caryl, and the rest of the family.
