Call to Confession
Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.” Let us deny ourselves and come to Jesus, confessing our self-centered, willful ways and asking forgiveness for our sin.

HOSTA PLANTS FOR THE TAKING
In order to make way for KRC’s new permanent outdoor sign, quite a number of hosta plants had to be removed from the front lawn of the church. The plants have been taken up in clumps of about a dozen plants each, and are now along the outside of the south wall of the church sanctuary between the wall and the handicap ramp. Anyone who wishes may feel free to take whatever plants they can use for transplanting in their own garden landscapes.

"THE OLDE DUTCH AND SUCH" CRAFTS GROUP meets on Fridays at 9:30 a.m. in the main floor classroom opposite the church office, and we warmly invite you to join us. We are creating new plans and new items for the 2013 KRC Bazaar, and OUR GROUP IS NOW LOOKING FOR OLD TEACUPS WITH SAUCERS, AND FOR SMALL DECORATIVE MASON JARS (lids not needed) TO USE IN MAKING SOY CANDLES. If you enjoy craft activities, but are unable to meet with us on Friday mornings, please consult with Dawn Tuttle about how you may be able to contribute to the Bazaar by working from home on your own time schedule.
If you are willing to reserve Saturday, October 5, 2013 on your calendar for participating in the ministry of packaging 10,000 meals for the Stop Hunger Now Meal Packaging Program at Ghent Reformed Church, please sign on the sheet provided on the back table. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a short time of devotions, followed by a brief gathering to learn about world hunger and the true blessings we have in our small community. Lunch is at noon, and the meal packaging process, which should take only about an hour and a half, will begin at 1:00 pm.

Gordie Van Buren's return home from a brief hospital stay. Gordie is looking good and feeling much better.
KRC’s share of support is $5,788 this year for services and resources to be provided for us by the Reformed Church in America at the local, regional, and national levels. EACH MEMBER’S SHARE OF THIS YEAR’S CLASSIS ASSESSMENT HAS BEEN SET AT $85.12. All who are able to do so are encouraged to offer, over and above regular giving, their share of this support. The full share does not have to be given at one time, but may be given in as many increments as are convenient. All contributions made for this purpose should be clearly designated, “Classis Assessment.”
The KRC Cemetery Committee is pleased to announce the opening of Kinderhook Cemetery’s COLUMBARIUM, a portion of the cemetery specifically designed for cremation burials. If you would like more information, please speak to Greg Clause, cemetery supervisor, or Jim Dunham, Cemetery Committee chairperson.

KRC GUIDED TOURS
The church will be open for guided tours from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday mornings through October 12. If you are willing to volunteer as a tour guide, help-sheets for noting points of interest within the sanctuary, recording the number of visitors, and opening and closing the church building are available to assist you in providing this outreach ministry. If this appeals to you as a way to serve the Lord, please contact Jane Deane, 758-7051.
Many KRC family and friends have, in the past, provided cut flowers for the pulpit in celebration of an anniversary or birthday, in honor of a special day or event, and in loving memory of family and friends who have passed away. During the summer months, those of you who are gardeners are invited to arrange and display your own garden flowers on a Sunday of your choice. If you are interested in providing flowers for a particular Sunday, please contact Dawn, 758-7564.
